I am so thankful for the opportunity God blessed me with to home-school my children. Deciding to Homeschool is not for every family. All children are different, they learn differently, they react differently to different settings and their home environment impacts them differently. School at home is also a place where you can teach your child to socialize with those you feel are like-minded and support your values. In my home school experience, there are students in homeschool co-ops and public schools, that I would not want my children to socialize with. 1 Corinthians 15:33, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
If I am teaching my children good morals at home, why would I want to confuse my child by sending them to kids and teachers who are behaving badly? All of my children are grown now, but if I had to do the school thing all over again, I would not allow my child to be in any outside classes and carefully select the types of students I would want my child to be influenced by. It is the parent’s responsibility to train their child in the way they should go. When a family chooses to home school they get to select a very unique educational experience for their child. Even as a home-schooling family my children have experienced the same ugliness they would have experienced in any other setting where children are not trained are disciplined properly in the home.
I love homeschooling. The beauty of this type of education is that each family’s school is unique to their home and their child’s learning style. You can choose to create your child’s learning experience any way you want because it is your home and your school. I have seen also that not all home-schooling environments are created equally. There are some situations where homeschooling is just a cover for no learning. One thing I would encourage parents is to not home-school their children if they are not going to invest in the experience personally. Homeschooling is such a great opportunity to build close family relationships and to create special memories that your child can look back on, but it should never be a place to neglect a child’s need to learn. I look forward to hearing about your homeschool experience and would love to encourage, pray for, and support my fellow homeschooling families. You have chosen to make the best investment in your child’s education by personally being involved in your learning experience. Remember this, you do not have to be like any other person, school, or family. It is your home, your school, it’s homeschooling. Be Blessed!
