We are now halfway through through the year! It’s July, a month filled with celebrations of our freedom. A month when students begin to think about the next school year. Summer has just started, but the warm weather has been with us for some time, here in Texas. Next year this time, we will be celebrating the 250th year of our nation’s freedom from England. But this freedom means nothing if it does not draw us closer to God. Galatians 5:1 says, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” The slavery that Christ delivers us from is more tragic than the slavery that took place in this nation. Even while enslaved, there were those who professed their faith in Christ, which actually gave them hope for better days. But the slavery that binds us in sin leads to eternal separation from God.
Christ empowered us with the freedom to say no to sin. Sin was no longer our master, because the law of the Spirit in Christ set us free from the law of sin and death. This is something much more glorious to celebrate. As you go forward in this month, remember, if the Son has set you free, you shall be free indeed. Be Blessed!
